Stephanie Onyekachi Okereke, a Nigerian model, actress, and film director, was born on October 2, 1982, in Ngor Okpala, Imo State as the sixth of eight children.
Stephanie completed her primary and secondary education in Delta State and studied at the University of Calabar in Cross River State, where she graduated with a degree in English and Literary Studies.
During her teenage years, she starred in two Nollywood movies: Compromise 2 and Waterloo. In 2002, Stephanie participated in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, where she placed third.
In 2003, she won two out of eight awards for which she was nominated, including Best Actress at the Reel Awards. In 2007, she graduated from the New York Film Academy. She directed, wrote, produced, and starred in the film Through the Glass, which received a nomination for Best Screenplay at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009.
Again in 2014, Stephanie directed, wrote, produced, and starred in another film titled Dry, which won numerous awards, including the Best Overall Movie at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, along with a brand new car as a prize.
Over the years, Stephanie Okereke has appeared in more than 90 films, including Hidden Treasure, Dry, Boonville Redemption, and Miracle in the Valley. She has also received several accolades, including Outstanding Actress at the Afro Dublin Awards, Best Actress at the 2006 Afro Hollywood Awards, and in 2011, she was honored by the Nigerian government with the national honor of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
